Baskets of Youth

Have you heard about the age defying properties of red wine and peanuts yet? It's all over the news just this week that medical experts have discovered an miracle enzyme in both that help thwart aging. Really - and though it's not quite The Fountain of Youth - the evidence is strong enough that I'm going to be putting together a few easy "Baskets-of-Youth"for gifts this year.

Of course I'm going to check first to make sure that no one is allergic to nuts, but here's my first trial basket and how I did it. I've started early to work all of this out so I could be organized and make several when it's nearer to Christmas.

I covered a shallow basket and a small framed postcard of Santa with a bottom layer of moss and then hot glued silk myrtle over the moss. I added a deep red silk poinsettia to the corner of the frame. Then I filled the bed of the basket with deep green tissue paper, plopped a bottle of red wine, a burlap bag of peanuts, and a bunch of grapes in the basket. Finally I tied a gorgeous splash of crimson satin ribbon in a bow and around the basket. This will work, I think; and it was super easy.

I'm going to finish my baskets off by wrapping them in tuille, (to hold e'thing together) and put another big bow on the top. . So above is the best video that has taught me everything I need to know about gift basket presentation plus how to make those huge wonderful bows as quick as Santa can wink - Cara Michelle Cohen is the best!
