Martha Makes Mistakes: A real hoot and a real comfort to watch

Even as I laughed, I sympathized. So many of my own "projects" have unexpected surprises -- disasters!

Who hasn't "been there - done that"? It's at that point that I usually want to run screaming out the door; hoping that someone else will clean up my mess. My worst mistakes?

I once shot a 3/4 inch staple through my thumbnail using an electric staple gun... don't even ask.

Another time, I had a huge commission for a decorator using very expensive carpet. I thought I was cutting one layer; and instead, I had cut through two. Sigh, there went the profit...

A real bummer - I left a project to dry in the Texas sunshine in my back yard. When I returned for it, the birds... phew.

But the very worst! I had a couple of freshly painted cabinet doors - again, drying in the Texas sun. As I checked them, I noticed a police officer had pulled over a youngster I knew directly in front of my home. I walked to the curb, concerned, to see what was happening. The cabinet doors still felt a tiny bit sticky with wet paint, so I walked towards them, gently waving the cabinet doors back and forth to help the drying process. The officer demanded I put my wet cabinet doors on the grass- He thought I was going to hit him and actually used the words, "You are under arrest!".

So what's yours?

Funny I should read your blog today and have to answer that question. I was cooking up a big pot of boiling water to soak some linens in over night. I didn't pay attention to how much oxyclean I added to the pot...It boiled over like you wouldn't believe and wouldn't stop! It looked like some terrible witche's brew. The mess flooded my burners, oven, and broiler drawer. My hubby and I cleaned it all up, but we'll see if it still works tomorrow after it's had a chance to dry. Wish me luck! LOL
